Research has shown that drinking a glass of water can improve a person’s metabolism by as much as 30 percent over 60 to 90 minutes, which allows people to burn calories at a higher rate. A study conducted by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) determined that drinking 17 ounces of water within 30 minutes of a meal led to the consumption of fewer calories and a 44 percent increase in overall weight loss over time.
